AKC Golden Retriever Puppies for sale in South Georgia. GA Golden pups dogs for sale by breeder.

Are your dogs and puppies registered?

Yes, all of our adults are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Why is registry with the American Kennel Club important?

Many do not understand why having AKC paperwork is of any importance but the American Kennel Club is very important to both breeders and those looking for purebred dogs. The AKC’s mission statement is; “The American Kennel Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to upholding the integrity of its registry, promoting the sport of purebred dogs, and breeding for type and function. Founded in 1884, the AKC® and its affiliated organizations advocate for the purebred dog as a family companion, advance canine health and well-being, work to protect the rights of all dog owners, and promote responsible dog ownership.” Their objective is to Advance the study, breeding, exhibiting, running, and maintenance of purebred dogs.

Unlike many other registries, the AKC requires breeders to submit DNA to ensure the integrity of both the registry and the lines to ensure there is no mixing of breeds. In fact, the American Kennel Club is the ONLY registry to do this.  Every dog with AKC registration comes from lines that all have AKC registration. While you MAY have a dog that is a pureblood without registration papers, you will NOT find an AKC-registered dog that isn't pureblood.

The American Kennel Club is a not-for-profit registry that does so many things for dogs everywhere. Some of these things include:

  • Kennel Inspections:  The AKC inspects thousands of kennels a year to ensure the safety and welfare of dogs.

  • Canine Health Research:  The AKC has donated over $20 million to fund sound scientific research to prevent, treat and cure canine disease.

  • Search & Rescue:  The AKC has donated over $3 million to Canine Search & Rescue and pet-related disaster relief and preparedness efforts.

  • Lost Dog Recovery: The AKC offers recovery services 24/7, 365 days a year, and has reunited over 400,000 lost dogs with their families.
